Vitamin D defficeincy

Dear Doctor

My wife suffered with Vitamin D deffiecincy since last two years. She has been given Vitamin D injection and some vitamin D tablets by her physician. Thereafter 1 year, she has complained about hurt in her feet. Sometimes she feels that her bones are completey failed. Her age is 30 years and weight is approx. 57 Kg. But still she complains about hurt in feet. Tell me what should we do?

    Your wife’s foot pain may, or may not, be related to her Vitamin D deficiency. We typically think of Vitamin D and bone health; however the impact of low Vitamin D exceeds just bone health.

    Vitamin D plays a very important role in our immune function as well. Without examining your wife, I cannot say whether or not her foot pain is related to the Vitamin D deficiency. I recommend she sees a Podiatrist who can better evaluate her. In the mean time, have you wife make sure she is using supportive footwear and inserts that can accommodate her foot type.
