Unidentified foot pain

I had a little discomfort in my left foot towards the right edge of the foot. In the morning, I could not step on the foot. I went to the emergency room where they did x-rays that showed nothing. The pain is from the inside and the middle or upper middle part of the foot towards the small toe. When I lift my toes, I feel pain towards where the bonyons are, but I do not think I have them. When I press the foot right underneath a small toe (about 1/2 in below), that’s where it hurts.
Please let me know what this may be. Thanks.

Hello and thank you for your question.

Unfortunately it is very difficult for me to diagnose without examining your foot. Many causes of foot pain are overuse-related which means often times rest, ice and stretching will alleviate the pain. If you have not tried these conservative treatment options then I would see a Podiatrist.

Any other doctor besides a Podiatrist is not as qualified to diagnose the subtle and various causes of foot pain. Because your x-ray did not show a fracture, it is most likely soft tissue or joint inflammation that you are experiencing.

    Good luck!
