Toenail removal

I slammed my big toe in a door over 8 years ago. It was yellow, black, and blue. It was detached. It had it removed. It grew back but still looks just as bad and not fully grown after 3 years. Would it make a difference to have it removed again?

Hello and thank you for your question Sounds like your may have injured the nail bed when you injured your toe 8 years ago. What this means is that you may always have issues with the big toe nail. Either a lose nail, thick nail or even fungal infections. If you have have not seen a Podiatrist yet I’d suggest having your toenail evaluated. You can haev it removed again but if it has fungus then you’ll want to be taking either a topical or oral anti-fungal medication. Smply removing the nail if it has fungus is not a sufficient treatment. I hope this helps!
