Toe still swollen after ingrown toenail surgery

ts been a week since I hade my ingrown toenail surgery on my big toe and my toe is still swollen.
Is it normal for it to still be swollen a week after I had my ingrown toenail surgery or does it take longer for the swelling to go down. It doest really hurt unless im on it for a while and sometimes if I walk on it for a while, the part where part of my toenail was removed will sometimes bleed a little. Is that normal even thought its been a week since I had my ingrown toenail surgery.

Hello and thank you for your question. In the presence of an ingrown toenail it is quite normal to have thick skin that is swollen and/or hard. This is referred to as a granuloma.

Depending on the size, I often will remove these during the partial nail avulsion. If they are not removed during the procedure, the body will often absorb the tissue so it may just take several weeks. If you are still concerned in several weeks, then I would return to your Podiatrist.

    I hope this helps!
