Hello and thank you for your quesiton. It is not uncommon to “stretch” a nerve when you sprain your ankle. This stretch to the nerve can create inflammation and irritation to the nerve that can last up to 6 weeks. I suggest that you take NSAIDs such as Aleve, Motrin daily as well as consider nerve protective supplements such as Acetyl-l-Carnitine (500mg) and L-Methyl Folate (1000 ug 3x day). There other alternative treatments you can consider such as infrared sauna 1x a week and Class 4 Laser. I hope this helps!
