Swollen, sore feet

I have flat feet and work in a warehouse on cement floor. Now my feet are starting to swell up and my ankle is starting to hurt. I’m standing about six hours a day. The side of my foot now is sore and the top of my toes close to my ankle the bones are sore. Can you tell me why this is happening?

Hello and thank you for your question. Standing on concrete is very hard on the feet and requires you to wear supportive footwear followed by foot releases at the end of the day. If you have not seen the footwear by Aetrex they have a great line of shoes (www.aetrex.com) which offer cushion and support to offset the stress of the concrete. You can also consider putting their Lynco insoles into your shoes as well. To release your feet I’d suggest rolling on a golf ball or RAD Roller for 10 minutes at the end of the day – every day. I would follow this with 5 minutes of calf stretching. If the pain persists after 2 weeks of the above then I’d see a Podiatrist to evaluate your feet in person. I hope this helps!
