Stubbed Toe

What happened was I had to make a sudden stop (wearing work boots) and my big toes slammed into the front of my boot. It was like I stubbed my toes inside my own boot! The pain felt different than I’m used to. It burned more. The left toe stopped hurting within 10 minutes but the right big toe hurt for a solid 24 hours. As the pain started subsiding, I thought I was in the clear…but about 3 days later, my toe was numb. It’s been like that for the past 48 hours and counting. My question is what did I do to myself and why is my toe numb?
Thanks so much!
