is it a fact that you should wear your shoes from the time you get up till you go to bed? A foot doctor has told my mother this and she swears that is what you are to do. So would like to know if this is a fact or is this some old wise tale.
Hello and thank you for your question.
The mindset to wear shoes from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed is a very old school approach to feet and movement. I build my practice around getting my patients out of shoes and to feel the ground and natural movement of the foot.
If your mother has severe foot pain or severe uncontrolled pronation these are a few exceptions to barefoot movement, however a majority people – of all ages – can and should integrate natural movement into their lifestyle.

I hope this helps!
