Severely sprained my right ankle

I severely sprained my right ankle 5 weeks ago and I didn’t seek medical attention. I did follow the rules and did rice and I understand the bruising, tenderness, and swelling that I’ll have. My question to you is, is in normal to feel pain and bruising both inside and outside the ankle as well as a very painful and at times audible popping sound on the front inner area? At times I’m walking and it’s horrible and other times I’m resting it.

Hello and thank you for your question. Sounds like you may have experienced an ankle sprain that did require medical attention. There are occasional fractures in or around the joint that need to be treated appropriately. I’d see a Podiatrist who can better evaluate you, take Xrays and possibly order an MRI. Based on the results recommendations may include injections, immobilization or physical therapy. I hope this helps!
