Plantar Fasciitis not responding to multiple treatments

I have Plantar Fasciitis for 2 years now. I did everything that you can possibly imagine to cure this problem: (4) Cortizone shots, icing, taping, stretching on my own plus (3) sets of Physical Therapy (12 sessions each set), night splints, custom made orthothics plus the ones that were personally recommended by others, bought all arch supports/sneakers etc. I spent so much money on this. On October 2016, I had radio frequency ablation (RFA) but it was not successful and then just this May 2017, I had PRP (plateless rich plasma) injections (paid out of pocket since insurance doesn’t cover it because it’s still on an “experimental stage”) . Now, it’s almost 3 months after the PRP injection, I am still in pain. My doctor recommended a second injection (in few weeks). I’m not sure if i should go for it. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Do you have an advise for me? Please help thanks!

Hello and thank you for your question. Have you had an MRI? You may want to rule out a partial tear of your plantar fascia. i treat conditions similar to yours with amniotic stem cell injections instead of PRP as I have a higher success rate. With these injection the post-injection protocol is almost more important than the injection itself. I have my patients in a camwalker for 2 – 4 weeks and usually do 2 injections 2 weeks apart. During this time they must be in the boot and cannot ice the foot or take anti-inflammatories. If you did similar to this after your injection then you may want to consider the 2nd injection however if you haven’t had an MRI I would start with that first. If this fails there is always a surgical release of the plantar fascia. I hope this helps!
