Pain side of ball of foot

About a week ago I was playing soccer and made a tackle accidently kicking the other player’s foot. Immediately after and since then I’ve had pain on the inside of my right foot around the ball area. There is slight swelling around the ball. When I touch the ball i have a lot of pain, but there is no pain when I touch the bottom or top of my foot, or my toes. When walking i have pain on the ball and toes. I don’t really have any pain when I curl my toes down, but do when I lift them up.
Since the injury I’ve been using the r.i.c.e. technique but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. I’ll book an appointment as it is still hurting. I didn’t book one thinking it was just bruising.
    Thanks again.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining you it is difficult for me to say exactly what may be causing the pain. Anytime there is a history of trauma to the foot, an Xray will need to be taken to rule out a fracture. Because you kicked another foot, my concern would be that you have a possible broken toe.

Depending on exactly where your pain is located it may be a toe sprain. A sprain can create tenderness around a joint and the ligaments that stabilize it. My recommendation would be to see a Podiatrist who can better evaluate you, take an Xray and make an accurate diagnosis.

    Good luck!
