Pain on inside of foot

About 2 weeks ago I tripped over a water bottle at home and twisted over the outside of my ankle. This hurt for several days but I thought nothing of it. Then about 4 days later when playing indoor football I fell the same way, except this time without the water bottle. It has been a week now and the inside of my foot and around the back of the inside of my ankle still hurt. Especially when walking/running but also when resting. What might it be and how should I treat it? Btw I am a dancer so could it effect my dancing?

Thank you for your question. Sounds like you had a minor ankle sprain. I recommend seeing a Podiatrist to get evaluated as even the most minor ankle sprains can cause a disruption in your ankle stability and proprioception. Often times after an ankle injury the risk for re-injury is very high.

To prevent further injury to the ankle it is recommended to do some balance exercise and ankle strengthening. If you are having persistent pain to the area, the Podiatrist can better evaluate you and make sure there was no injury to the ankle ligaments or tendons.

If there is any persistent inflammation to the area, various options are available for minimizing pain, swelling and inflammation.

    Best of luck!
