Pain under foot while on feet all day at work

Hi, I have been having pain on the underside of my right heel for about a month now which I believe to be fascitis plantar. But now I am having trouble walking on it as the burning pain is too uncomfortable to bear at times. I work in a factory making sofas Monday – Friday so am constantly on my feet. Is it advisable to get signed off of work by a doctor to rest my foot? This isn’t what I want to happen but I don’t know what else I can do. Any help would be helpful Thank You Grant

Hello and thank you for your question. If you do in fact have plantar fasciitis you cannot just rest and think it will go away. As soon as you return to work you would immediately get the pain again. If you have not seen a Podiatrist yet I would do so to discuss the option of a steroid injection, phyiscal therapy or orthotics. If you are standing on your feet all day you need to ensure you have proper foot support including inserts and footwear. Aetrex makes a great line of supportive shoes and their Lynco inserts are great. In addition you need to be rolling your foot on a golf ball or RAD Roller (www.radroller.com) every day for at least 5 minutes in the morning and evening. I hope this helps!
