Pain behind Ball of foot

Today I was in doing some cross fit and about 50 mins in I landed badly on my toe. It popped oddly and I thought I just dislocated it.

However when I went to look at it the toe is fine. It doesn’t hurt at all and I have almost full range of motion.

What hurts is right behind the ball of the foot.

If you look at the diagram above it’s on my left foot at the dot right below the big toe. If hurt to walk on it and when I fully extend my big toe back it hurts a little.

It’s not swollen or discolored anywhere that I have seen.

I though maybe I just sprained my toe if that’s a thing. I went to the home of the people I’m visiting. (The reason I didn’t just go see a doctor I’m far from home) I took some 300 mg of Ibuprofen and elevated it for a few hours.

Then I went to walk around and it felt weird. I walked around more putting more pressure on the spot and something popped again maybe in or out of place and it hurt more. It calmed down now but I haven’t tried walking on it again. I’m gonna see a doctor when i get home (Tuesday maybe Wednesday) If it’s not feeling better. What should I do in the mean time. Any idea what this could be?

Thank you for your question Patrick. Without examining you it is difficult for me to accurately diagnosis what may be causing your foot pain. I do recommend seeing a Podiatrist when you get home so they can more accurately assess and evaluate your foot. In the mean time I would minimize your activity, avoid activities that require flexion of the toe and control any inflammation or swelling to the area. Good luck!
