My feet hurt most of the time. I started taking Lyrica which helps. When I lay down, I prop my feet & legs on pillows but my toes still feel numb and hurt. My feet started hurting about 10 years ago so bad I could not stand to even have a sheet on them. The doctor said it was neuropathy. Note I was only diagnosed as diabetic 4 months ago. Is there any advice you can give me? Thank you.

Hello and thank you for you question. When I have a diabetic patient I include diet, nutrition and vitamin supplementation for the management of nerve pain. You may want to consider seeing a Functional Medicine Doctor who can work with you on systemic inflammation and hormone levels – both of which affect nerve health and nerve symptoms. You can also consider taking nerve-protective supplements such as R lipoic acid, acetyl-l-carnitine and L-methyl folate. I recently wrote a blog on this topic which you can read HERE. I hope this helps!
