My toe is swollen

The toe next to my little toe on my right foot is swollen. And I have pain in the ball of my foot as well as swelling. It is burning sensation when pressure is applied or I bend my toes their has not been an accident or trauma to cause this. I went to work and it was hurting all day I thought my shoes were bad so I bought new ones. Not the shoes. Been taking aleve for anti inflamitory Helps a little but swelling still there for several weeks now

    Without examining you it is difficult for me to say exactly what may be causing your pain, however I will give general guidelines. If you have not seen a Podiatrist it may be worth having an X-ray and a closer examination of the foot. If there is not acute injury to the foot you can still have pain from accumulative stress to the foot or toe joint.

    If you have not started icing and anti-inflammatories I would start here as this will help control some of the swelling and pain. In addition, try to limit the stress to the foot which I know is difficult but until you can get an X-ray this may be best.
