misdiagnosis of Sprained foot muscles in foot

Hi, my foot is now the same or worse but 100% Not better after (OVER a month ago) xray in ER hospital. I they turned my foot sideways and flat down for pictures. I tried to focus on the location of pain and when it hurts most. I feel it throbbing just before completely waking. Also when I step forward where my toes are still on the ground. And the rest of my foot is lifted this send sharp pain shooting around the base of my smaller 3 (maybe the 4th) toes. And simultaneousmy to the side of my foot up toward the big toe big still under the arch area . also EXTREMELY hard to step when stepping after resting or sleeping AND after long periods of walking or standing. Also hurts to apply pressure say climbingclimbing metal bars on playground after my kids.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining you it is difficult for me to say exactly what may be causing your pain and whether it is directly related to the sprained foot. Anytime a patient complains of pain to the front of the foot – especially during push-off – I start thinking about neuromas, stress fractures and sprains of the lesser digits.

Any x-ray may or may not show anything as most of these injuries are soft tissue. If you have not seen a Podiatrist I recommend getting a full foot evaluation. In addition, I suggest trying what’s called a metatarsal pad, rolling the bottom of your foot on a golf ball or tennis ball and taking anti-inflammatories for 1 week.

    I hope this helps.
