The back of my foot at the spot where my foot bends (heel) is very tender. I am barely able to touch it and there is a bump in the center of the swollen effected area. What can I do? Diagnosis? Solution or treatment? Thanks
Hello and thank you for your question. Sounds like it could be a combination of your plantar fascia or Achilles tendon are both of these structures are actually connected to the other. I would start by myofascially releasing your calves and plantar foot for 10 minutes every day with a lacrosse ball or foam roller. Avoid dynamic movement for a period of 2 weeks (this includes running & jumping) and wear shoes that are not completely flat. If you feel the pain persists after 2 weeks of the above then I’d see a Podiatrist who can better evaluate you for chronic changes in these structures or biomechanical imbalances which are leading to the pain. I hope this helps!
