Injury pain weeks later

Dear Dr, I twisted my foot into an odd position (it slipped to it’s right side, it’s also the right foot) a few weeks ago but I was able to walk perfectly fine, until now that is. My foot hurts unless I keep it flat and if I touch the sides it does feel as though I’ve broken it, or at least sprained it.

Could this pain be related to the incident a few weeks ago and if so what should I do?

Thank you very much for your time.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining you it is difficult for me to say exactly what is causing your foot pain.

It is possible that the pain you are experiencing now is related to the fall. I would recommend seeing a Podiatrist as to get an X-ray and a full examination. I would be surprised if you had a fracture as that is typically painful at all times and would appear right after the injury.

Until you are able to see a Podiatrist I recommend icing the foot, stretching the calves and taking anti-inflammatories.

    I hope this helps.
