Ingrown toenails

I get pedicures once every few months and noticed (regardless where I go) the pedicurist likes to cut the corners of the toe nails, almost diagonally. On the one hand it relieves pressure around the skin, but I find that when the nails grow back, they seem to grow more into the skin causing them to be ingrown. What do you recommend? Thank you

Hello and thank you for your question. This is actually a very common complaint and issue I see among my patients. Cutting the corners is actually not recommended as this does increase the chance of the nail to become ingrown. I recommend to my patients that they cut the nails straight across and to not cut them too short. I hope this helps!
