hot feet

my feet get very hot when I do a lot of walking. I have tried different socks and shoes but they still get extremely hot. I saw an ad for sport sandals and was wondering if this would help and if they would be good for feet in general. Are sport sandals jst sandals or do they provide support, etc for feet.

Thank you for your question. There are different reasons why patients experience hot feet. Small nerve neuropathy can alter temperature control of the foot, as can shifts in pressure and friction. Depending on your foot biomechanics there can be increased pressure and friction when walking.

A supportive sandal is a good start as it can prevent over-pronation or collapse of the arch. Aetrex makes a great line of sandals with built-in inserts. http://www.aetrex.com

If your feet continue to get hot when walking then I would see a Podiatrist who can better evaluate if it is more related to the nervous system.
