Heel/Back of foot pain only AFTER playing Sand Volleyball

For the last two weeks now. I have started having a pain in the back of the foot and heel area, only after playing Sand Volleyball. I play on Sunday nights and after we are done. I have a pain. Well, the next morning it is VERY painful, and lasts for a couple of days. It is uncomfortable to walk on for those few days. The pain is a burning, dullish pain for the most part. But, is does go away until I play Sand Volleyball again…..I also play softball on the weekend. However it has never bothered me after those games.

Thanks for the response. I will do exactly that.
I did also think about maybe wearing those “Toe Shoes”……Could those help?
    Thanks again!

Thank you for your question. Sounds like you are experiencing some Achilles tendonitis. This is very common with sand running and sand volleyball due to the unstable surface of the sand. Before you play sand volleyball and in between days you play I recommend doing calf stretching and eccentric exercises for your Achilles tendon. Most likely why you do not feel the pain when you play softball is because you are in shoes or cleats that have a little lift in the heel. When you get acute flare ups, I recommend taking an oral anti-inflammatory or icing the area. Good luck!
