My nails are very hard to cut..one has gotten deformed and is growing straight up..others are getting longer as i cant cut them..my big toe nail on one foot has a new one growing underneath..whats going on?
Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining your nails it’s hard to say exactly the cause of each nail deformity, however often times nail malformation/irregularities is associated with micro-trauma to the nail bed or nail matrix. This could be as small as repetitively hitting the nail in the shoe while running.
What I often recommend is considering a topical treatment for dystrophic nails such as NuVail, Jublia, Kerydin or oral Biotin supplements. If you have not seen a Podiatrist for your nails it may be worth having an in person evaluation.
