Front inside part of foot pain

I started running a bout a month ago and i felt like i might have ran on my foot wrong and the inside of my foot where the big toe connects was swollen and in pain, I then stopped running for a few weeks (2-3) and started up again this week and it is hurting again? What is this? Treatment? It hurts usually for a day or two after i run.

Thank you for your question. Anytime I have a patient with great toe pain, I want to assess for arthritis or bunion formation. Arthritis typically presents as pain in range of motion and occasionally when palpating the joint line. As the arthritis progresses you can actually see and feel the arthritic osteophytes at the joint line.

A bunion can present with similar pain on range of motion and at the joint line. If your pain persists I would see a Podiatrist who can better evaluate you and determine if arthritic changes are present or if there is a bunion.
