Foot swollen and painful to walk on it

Hello. My name is Richard. My left foot has been hurting since last Thursday and I’m not sure what the problem is. I’ve had seriously crippling pain where it is extremely difficult to walk or stand. My foot has swollen to about twice the size of my other foot. Initially I was unable to curl my toes down or up but since then some movement has returned. I thought it could be a corn as I’ve had that issue before with similar symptoms. I have put on those corn remover medicated band aids as that is what helped last time. Upon removing them it appears that there’s a blister of sorts forming under where the band aid was which is exactly what happened last time. However the swelling really has not gone down and it is still painful to walk or stand and I can’t put my full weight flat on the foot. Any help or advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without seeing your foot I cannot tell if you have a corn, an injury or an infection. I would suggest seeing a Podiatrist to ensure you do not have an infection or a possible infection forming. I’ve had patients use the corn remover pads incorrectly and get infections. If you are in that much pain then I’d see a Podiatrist ASAP. If you cannot get in then I’d suggest going to an Urgent Care Center to just ensure there is no infection.
