Foot problems

My partner has gone to the dr and he says he has something attached to the nuerve endings of the ball of his foot. It can be removed or freezed to releif pain. My question is how long will it take to recover from having this treatment as we are meant to be going away. Any info would be greatly received and any relief treatment to help him before having his treatment. would metatarsal gel pads help?if so where can I get them. Thank you

Thank you for your question. I think that you are describing a neuroma. Common in-office neuroma treatments include either steroid or alcohol injections. After the injections patients are able to ambulate and resume activity. Metatarsal pads are often used in conjunction with the injections as they spread the bones in the ball of the foot, thereby relieving pressure on the nerve.

Typically these patients require more than one injection, and respond quite well. If the pain continues to persist despite multiple injections, the nerve ending can be removed surgically.

    Good luck!
