Foot pain on top of foot

I have been suffering with pain on the top part of my food , my job is very active , this started last year when I was working nights on a project it was very physical
I was on my feet for 13 hrs a night , since then I am suffering with this pain, some times I can hardly walk , it is better with rest , I can’t era high shoes as this hurts the top of my foot .
What can I do about this to relieve the pain , what do you think it is, I am 52 not over weight a size 10/ 12 and keep fit , no other health issues.

    Without examining you it is hard for me to say exactly what may be causing your pain, however it sounds like it may be midfoot strain. Depending on your foot type any instability in the foot can cause jamming and stress to the small joints in the foot.

    Standing prolonged periods can further stress the midfoot leading to chronic pain in the foot. I would start by stretching the calves and rolling the bottom of the foot everyday for at least 10 minutes. There is a product called a Yamun Foot Saver which I recommend to many of my patients.

    Also make sure that you are wearing supportive shoes with built in arch support or insert an over the counter orthotic such as Aetrex’s Lynco Orthotics. If your pain persists after trying the stretching or an orthotic, then I recommend seeing a Podiatrist for a more in depth assessment.
