foot pain and swelling not seen anywhere on this site

The outside joint of my right foot has been hurting, feels hot and has spread outward. It is the opposite of the joint where you get a bunion. It is noticeably cramped in my right shoes and I have had to buy some wide width just to make it comfortable for work. I do suffer from arthritis and calcium build-up in my joints (bone spurs) so could that be the problem?

We do not have any foot doctors in my area so I want to be sure before I travel to have it checked out.
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the question Colvin.

If you can associate your pain with pressure in shoes then trying wider shoes is a great first step in alleviating some of the pressure on the outside of the foot. I like to advise patients to pay close attention to what activities increase the pain – and what decreases the pain.

A lot of foot pain can be relieved by altering shoe gear and activities. If your pain persists it may be worth seeing a Podiatrist who can take an Xray and better evaluate your foot.

    Good luck!
