foot pain

Periodically, I have shooting pains on the inside of my left foot — from the middle of the foot to the big toe. Most times it feels perfectly fine, but when it strikes it feels like I am being electrocuted.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining your foot it is difficult for me to say exactly what may be causing your pain.

Do you feel the pain when you are standing? Walking? Do you have to be weight bearing? Do you ever feel the pain when you are sitting? What I would suggest initially is start by stretching your calves for at least 5 minutes several times a day.

In addition you can freeze a water bottle and roll your foot on ice for at least 10 minutes once a day. If your pain persists after doing this for several days I recommend seeing a Podiatrist who can better evaluate your foot in person.
