Foot drop in paraplegic

Extreme foot drop in complete paraplegic. I have been paralyzed at the T 12 for 10 years and have foot drop. I am interested in robotics and standing again, however I have very serious foot drop. What can be done to remedy my issue? Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your question. I would seek out a expert in this area. What I can say is the longer your foot drop has been around the tighter the muscles and the shorter the tendons get. This means that it may be difficult for your ankle to get into a full dorsiflexed position. This will greatly affect the way you walk. There are tendon lengthening procedures if necessary however as I mentioned above I’d seek out a expert in this area of robotics / paraplegic. Good luck!
