Foot cramps

I am a young, active female and work as a dance teacher. I know that I’ve put a lot of wear and tear on my feet over the years, and now I’m beginning to experience tight cramping in the arch of my right foot when I point my foot while dancing. It’s almost like a “Charlie Horse” type of cramp. Do you have any suggestions for preventative exercises or how to relieve it quickly? Thanks!

    Hello and thank you for your question. Because of the stress you place on your feet as a dance teacher, I would make sure you are doing adequate foot recovery.

    Do you massage or release the bottom of your feet every day? We have 18 muscles in the bottom of our feet which need to be released every day. I recommend patients stand on golf balls or a product called Yamuna Foot Wakers – every day for at least 5 – 10 minutes. Also make sure that your calves stay flexible as all these muscles insert in your foot.
