Hello and thank you for your question. Depending on the severity of your flat feet, high heels can be difficult to wear. There are two types of flat feet – those that are flexible and those that are rigid. If your flat foot is flexible and can create an arch then high heels are easier to wear – but your feet may fatigue easily. There are high heel orthotics which are smaller than your typical orthotic.

The downside of high heel orthotics is that the control you get will be minimal. The orthotic that provides the greatest amount of control is bulkier and has what is called a rearfoot posting. If you are looking for the greatest control or support when in high heels, I recommend trying the heels from Aetrex’s Fashion Comfort collection (http://www.aetrex.com/pumps/) which are great because you don’t have to worry about fitting an orthotic in the heel because it’s built into the shoe. Some other great tips for wearing high heels if you have flat feet are to build foot strength before you wear the heels. Strengthen your feet by doing balance training and glute exercises.

    Good luck!
