Fifth Metatarsal Fractures

I fractured the fifth metatarsal on my right foot and I am now in a walking boot. Two weeks later, someone stepped on my left foot and I think I may have injured the fifth metatarsal on my left foot. The pain is localized and less severe on my left foot, so is there a possibility I will not need treatment for that? Or is a wheelchair my only option

Hello and thank you for your question.

If you are concerned of a fracture on your left foot as well then you must get an X-ray. A fracture cannot be diagnosed or assessed without having an image of your foot. If it is just a bone bruise or a soft tissue inflammation then you will not need a walking boot for the left foot, nor will you need to be in a wheelchair.

Based on your situation I would try to limit your activity as much as possible as to accelerate the healing of your left foot.

    I hope this helps!
