Excruciating foot pain

I am overweight I am 5’3 and weigh 230. However I am extremely active (I have 2 kids under 4). In the last 6 months I have had bad heel pain and self diagnosed plantar fasciitis. This past month though the pain has become excruciating! I wear good cushioned shoes and I was doing the stretches for plantar fascitis and the pain kept getting worse. It is to the point where I am in years at the end of the day. As the day goes on I begin to limp and it is to the point where I can barely go grocery shopping. My heels feel very swollen and there is a lot of pressure. Antiinflammatories don’t help at all. I went to my doctor earlier this week and she really just acted like I was over exaggerating the pain and she very quickly diagnosed plantar fascitis. Does this sound like something more to you? I know I need to lose weight but I literally am getting to the point where I cannot walk. Any suggestions?

Hello and thank you for your question. It does sound like you are experiencing plantar fasciitis. In many patients where the pain or inflammation has progressed for a long enough period, anti-inflammatories and stretching do not work. I typically try to be a little more aggressive and do injections, night splints and orthotics. 90% of patients with plantar fasciitis recover with the appropriate treatment.

    Good luck!

Invest in a pair of ortaheel flip flops,GET RID of sneakers, and any no-show socks:no-show socks irritate the soles of your feet, especially when they get worn a few times.
