Dry skin

I am trying to get rid of the dry skin around the heel area but am unsuccessful. I have tried pedicure treatments, lotions as well as wearing cotton socks at night. Nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Hello and thank you for your question.

The best treatments that I often recommend to patients with dry, cracked heels include lactic acid or urea-based creams. These products not only moisturize the area but they “eat away” the thick / dry skin. These products are available by prescription and go by the names Lac-Hydrin or Carmol 40. I often recommend that these treatments are done at night under occlusion by wrapping the heels in saran wrap.

In addition you want to ensure that your shoes fit properly as sometimes excessive friction from ill-fitted shoes can create callus formation on the heels.

    Good luck!

I use to wear socks to warm and soften my feet all time. I purchased socks from iloveno1 as they have a wide variety of colorful socks at reasonable prices.
