discomfort walking

I have a surgically repaired ankle that is currently giving me discomfort when walking and or working out. I broke 3 bones 6 years ago and have two screws in there. Recently I started having pain going up the outside of the foot and up the leg. When I walk it feels like the whole foot is not even;y touching the floor, I have some numbness at times on the top side of my foot. I’ve started wearing an ankle brace and putting ice on the ankle whenever I can It simply feels achy all the time.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining you it is difficult for me to say exactly what may be causing your pain, however I will give general guidelines. Depending on how you are walking and standing you are most likely placing uneven stress to the muscles and tendons of the foot.

This uneven stress will eventually lead to inflammation and possible tendonitis. If you have not tried to release the muscles of the foot and ankle, this is always a great place to start. If your pain persists or increases, I recommend seeing a Podiatrist who can better evaluate you and the cause of your pain. Good luck!
