Burning Sensation

I’m having a burning feeling on the tops of my feet that is very uncomfortable. There are red dots on my feet as well that look almost like blood. I am overweight, so could that be the reason for the burning feeling? Or is this a health problem I should worry about?

Thank you for your question. Without examining you I cannot say exactly what may be causing your pain, however there are several reasons why patients experience burning sensations in their feet.

Burning sensations are a nerve-symptom, so you will want to assess your nerve health. Diabetes, B12 deficiency and certain medications are some of the reasons patients begin to experience nerve pain. Nerve pain can be felt both weight bearing and non-weight bearing and is classically felt more at night. If you continue to experience this burning sensation I would see a Podiatrist who can do a full neurological evaluation and suggest if any treatments are necessary.

    Good luck!
