Ball pain to one side

Ive been having ball pain to my left foot for a few days now. The pain feels as though it’s from the actual bone and muscle. If you were to look at the ball as a clock the pain ranges from 4 to 8 o’clock. It’s very difficult to walk on as it feels like a sharp stabbing pain and the area is swollen. I’ve been resting it as much as I can but it doesn’t seem to be getting better. I’m a normal fit and health female in for late 20’s. I do walk as I don’t have a car but nothing too serious. What can it be, can you help?

Thank you for your question Vicci. The bottom of the foot is very complex with several tendons and small muscles running through the area you are describing. Without examining you it is hard to say specifically what the cause may be, however resting, icing and avoiding improper shoes may provide you the best relief. I would try to see a Podiatrist so an x-ray can be taken to rule out any stress fracture or other bone pathology. Good luck!
