Ball of foot pain, discolored 2nd toe

I’ve had a terrible burning, stabbing pain in left foot in the middle of the ball of foot. There’s a small lump under 2nd toe and slight bruising in the top base of 2nd toe. At times my foot feels so swollen and have pins needles effect, I’ll have to either loosen shoestrings on shoes or totally remove them. In the past I had plantar fasciitis and was treated with a steroid shot. I have tried wrapping ice packs around my foot but can only handle the ice for about 3-4 minutes. Currently taped my toe to constrict movement but it’s hurting the bottom of my foot a lot.

Hello and thank you for your question. Without examining your foot it is hard for me to say exactly the cause of the pain. I’d suggest seeing a Podiatrist in person to see if taping the toe is appropriate. You will want to rule out a neuroma, capsulitis, hammertoe, plantar plate tear, bursitis. All have slightly different treatments and you want to make sure you are in the right direction. I hope this helps!
