Ball of foot pain

I’m having problems with my left foot behind the second toe on the ball. It has burning pains and walking without shoes is very painful. Sometimes it feels like a hot knife is poking it. I do exercise often and run. Is there anything that can be done? Thanks.

Hello and thank you for your question. Sounds like it may be either a capsulitis / plantar plate issue or neuroma. I would start by first rolling your foot on a golf ball or RAD Roller (www.radroller.com) every day for 5 – 10 minutes. You can follow this with ice to the area for 10 minutes. To decrease the stress to the area I suggest taping the toes together and avoid excessive flexion (running, high heels, lunges etc). Do the above every day for a period of up to 2 weeks. If your pain persists then I’d see a Podiatrist. I hope this helps!
