Arch pain after treadmill

I have recently started walking 2 miles on my treadmill and am experiencing a pain in my right arch which causes me to limp. Should I ice it; should I stop the treadmill for awhile? Please advise. and Thanks

Hello and thank you for your question. I would start by rolling the bottom of your feet with a golf ball or RAD Roller (www.radroller.com) 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening followed by 5 minutes of calf stretching. In addition you can freeze a water bottle and roll your foot on it or massage the arch with the ice for 15 minutes at end of the day. For at least 1 week of doing this I would reduce your walking to allow the tissue to heal. If you continue to walk without doing the rolling, stretching or icing you can get plantar fasciitis which can be difficult to reduce the pain. As you return to walking then I’d make sure you have proper shoes which either have support in them or allow natural foot movement – depending on your foot type. I hope this helps!
