Ankle/Foot pain

For the past 1-2 weeks I have had pain along the front side of my ankle bone and leading into the top of my foot. I am able to stand and put pressure on it but gets pretty sore by the end of the work day since I am on my feet all day. It hurts the most when I flex my foot back and forth. I didn’t do anything to twist or sprain my ankle. I plan on going to the doctor on my next day off but that’s not for a few days. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Thank you for your question. Without examining you it is difficult for me to say whether it is the ankle joint itself or the tendons that that may be causing you pain. With the average adult taking between 5,000 – 8,000 steps a day, that is a lot of stress placed on the feet and ankles. It is easy to irritate the capsule and ligaments of the ankle joint, as well as the tendons that move the foot itself.

If you are scheduled to see a Podiatrist, that is great. Until then I would limit your activity as you will only be increasing your risk of compensatory injuries if you walk with the pain. Good luck!
