achilles tendon

I badly sprained my left foot 3 months ago. I am still having pain and the dr. is sending me to a specialist. The problem is my right achilles tendon. After limping and walking mostly on my right foot, the achilles tendon is now l
hurting very badly. What can I do to relieve the pain?

Thank you for your question. Achilles tendonitis can be a very frustrating condition as we always stress our Achilles tendon when walking and standing. I like to begin patients with Achilles tendonitis on oral anti-inflammatories, heel lifts and a night splint.

If your pain persists I would recommend integrating physical therapy with eccentric exercises and hip stretching. It can take some patients a good 4 weeks of rehab stretching to recover so do be patient and persistent with the treatment. Good luck!
