Achilles tendon pain

Hello. I recently suffered an inflamed Achilles tendon. I believe it was caused by wearing a loose shoe for an extended period of time. If that was the case, can you recommend a product to prevent another inflammation? There are so many out there and I’m not sure which one to get.

Hello and thank you for your question. If you tendon is still inflamed then I’d ensure you are avoiding totally flat shoes for at least 1 – 2 weeks. You can also put a heel lift (small) in both shoes to take more stress off the Achilles tendon. During this time I’d also stop doing all dynamic activity such as running, jumping, dancing as this can further stress the tendon. Finally you can roll your calves and the bottom of the foot with a lacrosse ball or RAD Roller (www.radroller.com) for at least 10 minutes every day. If the pain persists then I’d see a Podiatrist. I hope this helps!
