Abnormal condition of 4th Toe

Good morning,

Recently my 4th toe in right food has an abnormal condition.
The Nail has become very thick and looks dead and the skin of the area around the nail has become very hard.
I can cut almost most parts of the nail and only a very small area remains and I donot feel pain when I cut the nail this much.
The Skin of the area in front of the nail looks to have tendency to become as hard as nail.
Today I noticed that the same toe in the shoe become numb and I have to remove my shoe and massage the toe.

Could you please help me to have some information what is going on and what can I do to help this problem.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

Thank you for your question Zoya. Without examining you it is difficult for me to say exactly what may be going on – however I will do my best to give you some guidance. Based off of our description it sounds like your 4th toe nail has experienced trauma which is damaging the growth of the nail. If you have any contracture in your 4th toe, or the toe is repetitively hitting the front of your shoe – you can begin to experience nail changes.

Since you describe the front your nail as being thickened, hard skin – I suspect this is a corn at the tip of your toe. Corns at the ends of toes are often seen when toes are contracted or if the toe is repetitively hitting the front of the shoe. As far as numbness, this can also be associated with excess pressure on the toe when in shoes. I recommend seeing a Podiatrist who can better evaluate you.

    Good luck!
