With the evolution of the ski boot and the better insulating properties from the factory, warmth is no longer the priority of ski socks.
Much has been done to make ski boots air and water tight which has given sock manufacturers leniency to experiment with sock material and design to meet the goals of the modern ski sock – keep feet comfortable,
dry, the ability to feel the balance of your ski boots and bindings.
A good ski sock is going to be made from a combination of organic fibers, like Merino Wool and synthetic fibers like nylon.
This combination provides the best possible combination of warmth, thickness and moisture wicking abilities.
So what are the best ski socks?
Well to find out we tested the major brands of socks skiing on some of the coldest days in Telluride Colorado in the middle of January to see which ones would be up to the task.
We found there were some major differences between them, some were far superior to others.
