For people with diabetes, foot problems can be common. And sometimes what starts out small can turn serious. But in some cases, there’s an easy solution. To Lisa Summers, managing diabetes means staying educated and updated. “There are so many new things that are coming out, not only with medicine but with technology.” A year ago, a recumbent bike at the gym turned a normal workout into anything but for Lisa. “I did not realize because of the neuropathy in my feet that my foot was slipping under the strap and it developed a blister the size of a dime.” What happened to Lisa because of neuropathy, or dying nerve endings, is common.
