Stabbing pain on bottom of foot when walking

I'm having a stabbing pain on the bottom of my right foot near the outside behind my little toe. It feels as if I have stepped on a sharp rock when walking bare foot. The pain is located right at the bone. My question is what would this foot issue be called and what can be done do resolve it. Ive had this problem before on my heel but after several weeks it went away.

Thanks so much for the advice.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately without examining you it is difficult for me to know the exact cause of your pain. We have many small joints and ligaments in our feet which are easily susceptible to excessive stress and loads from walking, running and other various activities.

Due to the demands placed on the feet, rest is always an initial treatment. Make sure you have proper mobility within your feet and ankles by stretching daily, as well as wearing supportive shoegear. If you feel the pain persists then I'd see a Podiatrist who can further evaluate you. Good luck!
