I was wondering is there another name for splay foot. My friend has been told by a pod she has splay foot and I can't seem to find hardly any info on it.
Thanks in advance for any info!!!

Google splayed foot there is a bunch. From fore foot abductus to hallux varus.
All in I would expect your friend to have a loose flexiable fore foot and that they are over pronating.
The are many things that can done from accomadative foot wear to a UCBL ( an agressive foot Orthotic that hold the foot in a rigid upright position)
Hope this helps

Dear Denise
A "splay foot" can be thought of as a wide forefoot, which commonly results from the presence of a bunion deformity along with a tailor's bunion.

Thank you both for your replys. My friend has a knot on the side where her little toe is she said she has shooting pains. She had been seeing a pod that told her she had arthritis and had her on pain pills. She went to another pod and he told her she had Splay Foot, but I had never heard of that and her neither. I was a long time sufferer of Plantar Fasciitis but no more.

Dear Denise
The "knot" by the "little toe" is probably the tailor's bunion, which in conjunction with a bunion deformity will definately add width to the size of a foot.

Thanks again for your quick reply!! My friend works in a department store on concrete for 8 hrs per day. What do you recommend for her? The pod she went to wants her to come back in Sept and they would discuss surgery. This we be her second visit. She has been suffering for years with this and this is the first pod she has went to that gave her a cordazone ( SP) shot. She said she was feeling better after the shot. But she is very scared. She doesn't have a computer is why I'm asking the questions for her. Thanks again

Dear Denise
A cortisone injection is great for relieving pain and acute inflammation, however, if the underlying structural deformity is not addressed via conservative/surgical management, the pain will continue. She will need to wear wider shoes that will help to accommadate for the added width due to the tailor's bunion deformity.
