Near the beginning of my last run, the top of my foot started hurting. It was a real bony pain -- sort of like shin-splints, in that running on the grass made it a little better, and the pain came and went during the whole jog. Lenghthwise, the pain is in the middle of the foot, only it's near the surface, right under the part of your shoe where you lace the shoelaces. It's been aching a bit during the day, but not as much. Could you offer any information?
thanks,
josh

It is quite possible that you could be suffering from shin splints or some tendinitis. The treatment for the two is essentially the same, which is rest. I would also recommend changing the surface that you jog on as well. You may also need to invest in a new pair of running shoes, if you use older shoes that shock absorption may have worn out do to repetitive use. I would strongly recommend that you make an appointment with your podiatrist to make sure that you do not have a more serious condition and also that you are treating this injury properly.
